For you my soul is thirsting.

Mother of God, Blessed, Immaculate.

Blessed are you because you believed.

A women, a mother, who wholeheartedly said yes to God “be it done according to your word”.

Mary our guide, not only did you bear the Christ child in your womb, you called us all to Him. You held Him out to the world. You taught Him your ways, as any mother would, and prompted Him when the time came.

How that sword of Simeon’s prophesy would have begun piercing your side from the beginning but with depth at Cana. Three years of ministry, the reality of your son made public. Your eternal “yes!” gave you the front seat view. How you must of consoled your son through pain and sorrow. How you must have ached to want to console him in his passion. So too, come console us.

As you held Him out to the world in swaddling clothes, once again you held Him out in the rags that held Him in death.

How did your faith survive?

How did you keep saying yes?

Yet your soul continues to magnify the Lord. It shines an unwavering light on Jesus Christ and shows us the way without hesitation.

Let our souls magnify him too.

Let our actions show His love in this world full of fear.

Mary mother, teach us to say “yes” over and over to your beloved Son.

Mary our mother, hear our plea, us your children.
